About the Course
ICAI Foundation Course Syllabus 2023 ICAI has presented each topic of the syllabus in a lucid manner. If you are registered in CA course on or before 1st January, 2023 then you are eligible to appear in May/June, 2023 exams. Candidates registering between 02.01.2023 to 01.07.2023 are eligible for appearing in CA Foundation Dec 2023 examinations. Note that 4 months study period is required before appearing in Foundation Examination.

Eligibility

CA FOUNDATION ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA 2023

Candidates before registering for CA Foundation exam 2023 should ensure that they fulfill the eligibility criteria of CA Foundation. ICAI had made some provisions in 25E,25F and 28 F of the CA regulations that permits candidates of class 10 to get admission through a provisional route. The eligibility criteria of CA Foundation 2023 is given below:

  • Age Limit

There are no age limit restrictions for candidates who want to apply for the CA Foundation exam.

  • Educational Qualification

The educational qualifications guidelines set by ICAI are:

  • Candidates who have passed the Class 10 examination from the state or central government board or an equivalent examination can apply for the CA Foundation exam. However, these candidates can only take provisional admission that will be regularized after clearing Class 12 exams.

  • Candidates appearing in Class 12 or have already passed the exams can register for the CA Foundation exam.

  • Candidates who have passed Class 12 with a minimum of 50 percent marks can register

Paper 1: Principles and Practices of Accounting Syllabus (100 Marks)

Principles and Practices of Accounting is the first paper of the CA Foundation course. The syllabus of CA Foundation Accounts consists of basic accounting, which students might have studied in the 11th and 12th.

The CA Foundation accounts syllabus for the May 2023 exams is as follows:

Paper 2: Business Laws and Business Correspondence and Reporting Syllabus (100 Marks)

The syllabus of paper 2 is a bit longer in terms of the theoretical parts. It is divided into two sections:

  • Section A- Business Law (60 Marks)
  • Section B- Business Correspondence and Reporting Syllabus (40 Marks)

The CA Foundation Law syllabus consists of theory and needs proper understanding. So students should cover this syllabus early so that they can revise it at least 2 times.

Paper 3: Business Mathematics and Logical Reasoning and Statistics Syllabus (100 Marks)

Business Mathematics is the third paper of the CA Foundation. It helps students to develop an understanding of Basic MathsReasoning, and statistics. The application of the CA Foundation maths syllabus is in the business, Finance, and Economics sectors and helps students develop a logical understanding to solve problems. The CA Foundation maths syllabus consists of 40 marks. Whereas the reasoning syllabus covers 20 marks and statistics covers 40 marks.

In the CA Foundation Maths syllabus, you’ll study ratios, equations, permutations and combinations, calculus, and many other topics you might have learned in school.
